RESIST!

With the RESIST! project, we are supporting artists in times of severe cultural cutbacks: for a period of two and a half months, starting on 5 March, we are inviting thirteen artists to use our studios for rehearsals, practice, discourse or as a place for exchange with the scene and the wider public. The focus is on recognising the status of artists.

Our support within the framework of RESIST! is not performance-based, but rather enables – at least temporarily and almost unconditionally – a necessary prerequisite for artistic creation.

Art does not have to be born out of necessity. It needs opportunities for connection and fertile ground in order to grow continuously and, ultimately, to survive. In line with this idea, the open studio format is intended to give the selected artists the opportunity to sharpen and maintain their profiles and aesthetics – including through moments of pause, understood as an essential prerequisite for artistic processes.

In addition, Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE is organising weekly assemblies during the RESIST! project period: starting on 5 March, all cultural actors and interested parties are invited to meet at Uferstudio 5 on Thursday evenings* from 5 to 7 p.m. At these open events, which will take place until 7 May, thematic impulses will be offered in collaboration with Zeitgenössischer Tanz Berlin e.V. (ZTB) and external guests in order to enable a broader cultural-political exchange within the independent scene.

On 16 May, the RESIST! project will culminate in an open closing night at Uferstudio 14 with short performances, sharing sessions, discussions and a joint celebration. Participation in this event is voluntary for the artists receiving funding; there is no production pressure.

RESIST! stands for a resistance initiative against the current cuts in cultural funding and the normalisation of right-wing positions in mainstream society.

With: Makisig Akin, Christina Ciupke, Tatiana Mejia, Adam Man, Sergiu Matis, Thiago Rosa, Jen Rosenblit, Maria Scaroni, Elvan Tekin, Jasna L. Vinovrški, July Weber and Kasia Wolińska. Kristina Kusmina Dreit, Live Works Fellow 2026, supported by Centrale Fies and Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE, will also participate in RESIST!
